Booking Us

Confused about the planning process when booking a photographer?  Don’t know what questions to ask?  Don’t know what you need in a package?  You’ve come right to the source!!  Let us provide all the answers to your questions during this stressful process so you can concentrate on more important things… like finding the perfect dress!  :-)

How early in the wedding planning process should I book a photographer?
It is recommended that you book a photographer at least 6 months prior to your wedding date; however, sometimes a more advanced booking is required for more popular dates.

How do I determine that you are the right photographer for me?
Its kinda like finding the perfect dress, you just know!  Whoever you chose as your wedding photographer, you should make sure you “mesh”.  Remember, you will be dealing with your wedding photographer long before and after your wedding day.  Make sure you will get along!  If possible, I always recommend meeting your photographer before signing a contract.

Why is wedding photography so expensive?
Like any other art, it’s important to remember that you are paying not only for the time of your photographer, but for their talent!  Although we may make it look easy, wedding photography is hard work!  I often have people ask me at the end of a wedding night if I’m glad my work is over, when really it’s only just begun!  Images must be processed, the album has to be designed, and everything must be prepared for you to see our works of art!  Every image I take is thoroughly scrutinized to make sure it meets my high expectations.  It’s important to remember much more goes into your wedding photos than the time that your photographer is shooting on your wedding day!

Do you offer engagement sessions?
A complimentary engagement session is included with every wedding day package.  Already have a photographer but still want me to capture your engagement? No problem!  An e-session can be booked at the standard rate of $200.

What if we decide to upgrade our package after we sign a contract?
No problem!  Just let me know and I can add an amendment to your contract updating your package.

Our friend offered to shoot our wedding for free.  Is this a good idea?
Take this from personal experience, you will regret not hiring a professional to shoot your wedding.  I know that your friend might have a fancy new camera and have the best of intentions, but there is just something about the feeling you will get the first moment you see your photographs of the most important day of your life taken by a true professional.  Lighting in the ceremony and reception halls is often dark and therefore difficult to get spectacular results if one is not extensively trained capture great images in low light.  Not to mention the fact that you’ve only got one shot to get it right.  There are no retakes of your wedding day.  It only happens once.  Don’t risk the pain of not having stellar photographs to show your grandchildren of the day you married your to-be!

What is a copyright?  Who owns the copyright to our wedding photos?
A copyright determined who owns the right to publish, reproduce, and sell the work.  Copyrights always stay with the photographer unless expressed differently in writing.  I offer reproduction rights with all DVD’s included in my packages.  Reproduction rights allow you to reproduce your wedding photos for non-commercial personal use.  This means you can take your wedding DVD to any lab and have prints made at any size!  The right to sell and publish work still remains with the photographer.

How will I get to see my images and how long will I have to wait until after the wedding?
I offer online proofing with all packages.  This allows you to go online four weeks after your wedding day and view your images in a password protected gallery you can share with friends and family.  You can also order prints right in the comfort of your own home!

How would you describe your style?
Fun.  Contemporary.  Raw.  Real.  Beautiful.  I’m not your traditional wedding photographer, and I like it that way.  I’m goofy.  I think outside the box.  I’ll be your best friend, but a total professional at the same time.  Overall, your wedding day should be fun, so why should your photographer be any different?

Is it ok if we hire another photographer to cover our wedding along with you guys?
While I’m totally open to other family member taking photos at your wedding, my contract requires me to have the exclusive right to photograph your wedding.  In other words, I do not allow any other professional photographers to cover the same event unless they are hired by me personally.  Weddings are hectic.  There needs to be one clear leader so everyone knows who’s running the show and the portraits can be set up efficiently.  30 minutes after the ceremony is not much time to get portraits of the entire bridal family plus family when you have too many people trying to give direction.

Will you hold our date for us?
Unfortunately due to the amount of inquires I receive everyday, I am unable to hold a date for anyone.  All dates must be held with a non-refundable retainer and signed contract.

What happens if we cancel our wedding?
Since your retainer is non-refundable, we will gladly apply it to another available date or even a portrait session.  In the event that you don’t rebook and we rebook your date with another bride, we will gladly refund your retainer as a courtesy.

You say you can include a second photographer for an additional fee.  Who else will be shooting besides you?
I have a list of great second photographers that I use exclusively.  It’s important to know that your second photographer will be just as talented as your first!  You are not getting someone that is still in training, but a first class professional!
